FAQs

What do I do if I have a concern about the home and its care

Our advice in the first instance is to contact the Home Manager (01481) 723640. Alternatively, you can contact the Chairman of the home: Jurat Michael Tanguy, Tel: (01481) 249323.

If, however you feel your concern has not been addressed or you prefer to talk to someone not directly associated with the home then contact the Registration and Inspection Officer at the office for Health and Social Care, Telephone (01481) 725241 ex. 4194

Do you have to be a Catholic to be a resident?

Although the home was founded by a Catholic it has never been a consideration in considering a resident application to the home. Until 2015 the home was supported by an order of Spanish religious sisters who were resident in the home. Sadly, the sisters order decided that due to the sisters increasing age they were no longer able to fulfil their caring role and decided to move them to their mother house in England. Since their departure the Directors continue in their endeavours in maintaining a Christian ethos in the home.

Is the home inspected by an external authority?

The home is registered with Guernsey’s Health and Social Care Department (HSCD) as a thirty-five-bedded residential home for vulnerable residents. The home is inspected twice annually by the Registration and Inspection Officer, HSCD. These comprise of an unannounced inspection whereby the inspector visits the home unannounced and undertakes a full inspection of the homes facilities, care processes and its policies on care provision. The other inspection is an announced inspection, this is arranged in advance with the Home Manager and is a follow up to the formal unannounced inspection. Reports received from the inspector have consistently been positive.

In addition, the home is inspected at least twice yearly by the Environmental Health and Pollution Department, Infection Control Department, HSCD and the HSCD Head of Pharmacy. Again, all reports have consistently been positive.
